School calendar

n Mascotte Elementary Charter School Parent Teacher Organization has scheduled a "Pumpkin Patch" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the school. Pictures will be available for purchase as well as refreshments. This will be a great festive family fun day and will help raise funds for the PTO.

n East Ridge High School Drama Club have scheduled a production of "The Crucible", the famous tale of the Salem Witch Trials by Arthur Miller, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Oct. 22 to 24 and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25 in the East Ridge High School Auditorium. No author has ever captured the events of the Salem Witch Trials in such a dramatic and captivating fashion and touches the hearts and minds of every individual fortunate enough to view it. The outstanding student members of the aclaimed East Ridge Drama Club will make definitely make their mark in Central Florida's fine arts world. Ticket prices are $5 for senior citizens and students; $7 for parents and will be sold at the door.

n Lake-Sumter Community College Foundation, Inc. is now accepting applications for student scholarships for the Spring 2009 semester. The Foundation will be awarding $110,000 in scholarships for all types of students. Applications are obtainable online at http://www.lscc.edu/foundation/scholarships.aspx. The deadline for submitting applications is October 31. Classes begin January 7.

n Junior Achievement has scheduled a "Spooktacular Bowl-a-Thon" at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24 and at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Clermont Bowling Center. All money raised will go directly to the JA programs in the schools. JA connects kids to real world knowledge with the help of Lake County business people.

n The School Board of Lake County has scheduled the regular School Board meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27 at the Commission Chambers, Lake County Administration Building, 315 W. Main St., Tavares.
