MINNEOLA -- A 7-Eleven store clerk in Minneola was shot in the shoulder through a storefront glass last week. Authorities are trying to determine whether it was random.
Clay Chivers, 33, did not sustain a life-threatening wound to his left shoulder in the Minneola shooting, but he was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
He was treated and released.
Sgt. James Vachon, a spokesman with the Lake County Sheriff's Office, said Chivers was stocking a case some time around 1 a.m. at the convenience store at U.S. Highway 27 and Washington Street, when someone shot through the window.
Vachon said there are a number of nearby businesses, but they were all closed at the time of the shooting. He said it wasn't clear if the bullet was shot from a pedistrian or someone in a vehicle.
The shooting is under investigation but had few leads last Friday..
