2 women face 25 drug charges

Staff Report

Two Lake County women face a total of 25 drug-related counts and combined bonds of more than $250,000, following unrelated arrests.

Jessica Henderson, 30, of 609 Lucille St., Leesburg, was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, trafficking in meth, conspiracy to manufacture meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and four counts of child abuse.

Her bond was set at $196,500.

Cindy Smith, 55, of 138 Quail Oaks Circle, Grove-land, was charged with 14 counts of possession of prescription medicines with intent to distribute, and one count each of possession of a controlled substance (Diazepam), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Her bond was set at $81,000.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said it severed a search warrant at Henderson's home and found "all the necessary items to manufacture meth-amphetamine were located inside the attached garage." In fact, investigators said an "active methamphetamine cook" was under way at the time, resulting in Hazmat being called and surrounding homes being evacuated.

There also were four children in the home at the time, investigators said.

Groveland police said they executed a search warrant at Smith's home and found prescription medications, including Prozac, Zoloft, Desyrel, Flexeril, Paxil, Phen-ergan, Hydrocortisone Sodium, Aminophylline, Airopine Aminophylline, Epine-phrine, Wyamine Sulfate, Benadryl and others. Police said Smith could not provide a prescription for the medications.

Also found in the home were various smoking devices with marijuana reside inside them, along with empty bags containing the same residue, reports said.
