Alumni baseball game

is Saturday at SLHS

All South Lake High School, Groveland High School, and Clermont High School graduates who played baseball at anytime are welcome to attend and play at this alumni baseball game at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the South Lake High School baseball field in Groveland.

Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the field and cages will be open for hitting, throwing and a very long stretching session.

New Year's celebration

to benefit students

Join us at the Sky Zone New Year's Eve celebration from 11 a.m. to

5 p.m., Monday to help Back to School is Cool receive 15 percent of proceeds for that day.

The low-cost family friendly event will take place at Sky Zone, next to Family Christian Center Church,

2510 S. U.S. Highway 27, Clermont.

Back to School is Cool-Lake County assists economically challenged students throughout the entire school year.

Biggest Winner Challenge begins on Jan. 14

Chick-fil-A and Performance

360 have combined efforts to offer the 2013 Biggest Winner Challenge to launch South Lake into 1,000 pounds of weight loss in five weeks beginning on Jan. 14.

Entry fee for the challenge is $99 per person and gives participants access to P360, Saturday group training sessions, and the chance to win $5,000. No membership is necessary.

The grand finale is planned for Feb. 19 at the Chick-fil-A in Clermont.

Celebrate a great

cause at casino night

If you are looking for a fun New Year's Eve and want to support a great cause, Windermere Union Church, 10710 Park Ridge-Gotha Road, in Windermere is having a Casino Night event from 7 to 10 p.m., on Sunday. as a fundraiser to benefit the Health Alliance Breast Cancer Project at the Windermere Town Hall on Main Street.

The non-profit Health Alliance Breast Care Project helps uninsured, low-income women receive cost-free diagnostic mammograms and procedures if they are symptomatic of breast cancer.

Tickets are $30 for singles and $50 for a couple.

Volunteer mentors are needed for high school students in the Take Stock scholarship program.

The school-based mentoring program requires no tutoring, just a commitment to meet with the assigned student a minimum of three times per month during the school year.
