After some trial and error, the Via Entertainment decided on Southern-style comfort food for its daily buffet at the Leesburg mall.

“We tried a couple different themes before realizing that everyone loves comfort foods,” Marketing Manager Stephanie Erin said. “The new Southern-style buffet has become really popular and continues to impress as word gets out.”

Each day offers a new selection, including meatloaf on Mondays, taco on Tuesdays, country fried chicken on Wednesdays, Salisbury steak on Thursdays and spaghetti on Fridays.

“The Salisbury steak buffet was a huge hit,” General Manager Richard Ruiz said. “Everyone is really enjoying the different themes. The taco bar is also really popular, where everyone gets to make their own tacos.”

The buffet features a main entrée with at least three side items, soup, salad and dessert. Side items include mashed potatoes and gravy, rice, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese, country fried taters and glazed carrots, all homemade by Bar Manager Connie Uran.

“A lot of my recipes came from my grandmother who cooked very traditional Southern food,” she said. “We try to stay away from anything packaged or premade, and stick to a traditional menu.”

All of the soups are Uran’s creations, including chicken and homemade noodles, bean and bacon, Mexican soup, beef barley and lasagna. She also makes all the desserts.

“Everything on the buffet was wonderful,” Pamela Spruce said. “It took me back to my childhood. The meatloaf and potatoes were just like my mom made, and the pumpkin cake was a nice surprise too.”

The buffet is surrounded by bowling lanes and arcade games, in the former Target store.

Regular menu items, such as burgers, wings and pizzas, are available during the buffet.

The buffet is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Go to www.facebook.com/VIAENTERTAINMENTFL for information.
