TAVARES — People wanting to help those in need will be able to Stuff the Bus at three local Publix stores.

Slated for Oct. 29, Lake County Transit Division staff members and volunteers will be collecting nonperishable food for the 11th Annual Stuff the Bus food drive. The food gathered during the campaign will be donated to the Salvation Army in Leesburg, Lake Cares Food Pantry in Mount Dora and Angels of Mercy on Clermont.

Elisha Pappacoda, Lake County public information officer, said the nonperishable food items accepted for donation include canned meats, vegetables, fruits, stews and chili, canned or dry soups, canned or packaged pasta, peanut butter, tea bags and ground coffee, hot and cold cereals, rice, cake and pancake mixes, syrup, powdered milk, juice boxes, granulated sugar, baby food and formula, granola and cereal bars and dry or canned pet food.

The Publix stores at 2840 David Walker Drive in Eustis, 717 N. 14th St. in Leesburg and 250 Citrus Tower Blvd. in Clermont will accept donations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Food items can also be dropped off from 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays at the Lake County Public Transit Division, 2440 U.S. Highway 441/27 in Fruitland Park.
