Be a time traveler, food taster and art lover this weekend as events color the landscape in Lake County and surrounding areas. Step into history the next two weekends at the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire at Lake Idamere in Tavares. Mingle with villagers and enjoy the games and trades of a bygone era. Restaurants will roll out their best fare today at the Taste of South Lake Thursday at Waterfront Park in Clermont. The Clermont Art Festival lines the streets in Historic Downtown Clermont this weekend in a juried art show. Astronomy Night will have you seeing stars on Friday at Dade Battlefield Historic Park in Bushnell and the Wings of Freedom tour will display vintage aircraft in Leesburg. Get a jump on Christmas at the Leesburg Christmas House and Run for a Cause at the Juice Jog in Groveland.

Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire

Travel back in time to 1606 at the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 5, 6, 11, 12, and 13 at State Road 19 and County Road 448 at Lake Idamere.

“It is a fun, family fantasy and it supports Lake County teachers and students,” said Carman Cullen-Batt, executive director of the Educational Foundation of Lake County Inc.

The cast is comprise of 165 drama students, and over 200 culinary students cook food at the event.

Mingle with knights, gypsies, fire-eaters, pirates, dancers, merchants, peasants, historical characters and musicians. See living history in the Society for Creative Anachronism Village of Shrewsbury with costumed re-enactors performing trades that were popular in the 1600s.

Guy Fawkes and the bad boys of history will be celebrated the first weekend. The second weekend celebrates Kilts, Celts and Vikings, a celebration of all peoples of the British Isles.

Cost is $15 for adults, $10 for kids. Special admission days are today for Education Day, students and chaperons $5; Nov. 6 for Senior Sunday, Seniors over 62 $8 and Nov. 11 for Veteran's Day free with military ID. Details: www.medievalfest.com .

Taste of South Lake

Waterfront Park in Clermont will host the Taste of South Lake from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today. Over 25 restaurants will offer samples of their signature dishes and more than 45 businesses will be in attendance handing out giveaways. There will be live music during the event. Downtown Clermont Art Festival

Up to 50 artists will compete for over $3,000 in prizes at the Clermont Art Festival Fine Art Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on Montrose Street in downtown Clermont. Astronomy Night

See some real stars at Astronomy Night 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at Dade Battlefield Historic Park, 7200 County Road 603 in Bushnell. Bring a flashlight, insect repellent and lawn chair and join the Nature Coast Amateur Astronomers for a brief power point program and night sky viewing with the aid of their telescopes. Wings of Freedom Tour

World War II vintage aircraft will be on display for The Wings of Freedom Tour at the Leesburg International Airport Friday through Sunday. Cost: $12 adults, $6 Children 12 and younger and veterans admitted free – no reservations needed for walk-through tours.
