Start out your holiday season with one of the great events this weekend, from light-up events in Eustis and Mount Dora to a Festival of Trees in Weirsdale — for awesome decorating tips with a charitable theme.

Light Up Eustis

Bring the family to the second annual Light Up Eustis from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in the downtown entertainment district. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. Santa, Mrs. Claus and Dancer the reindeer will visit with a free souvenir photo and frame.

Light Up Mount Dora

The 35th annual Light Up Mount Dora is from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Donnelly Park at the corner of Donnelly Street and Fifth Avenue. See Mount Dora transformed into a winter wonderland with more than 2 million lights. Christmas songs and dancers take the stage at 4:30 p.m. for a pre-show and the show begins at 5:30 p.m. The lighting is at 6:30 p.m.

Festival of Trees

Visit the Festival of Trees from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday through Dec. 3 at The Grand Oaks Resort, 3000 Marion County Road in Weirsdale. Over 20 organizations have decorated trees representing a charity. The public is welcome to purchase tickets for $1 to vote for their favorite tree or trees, with the profits going to the charity represented by the tree. The Grand Oaks will donate $250 to the first-place tree and $150 to the second and third-place trees. The European section of the carriage museum will be open to the public.

1st Friday Street Party

Historic Downtown Eustis hosts the 1st Friday Street Party from 6 to 10 p.m. Dec. 3. The event features live music, vendors and all restaurants are open for business. Details at www.eustis.org.

Light-up Clermont

Light-up Clermont is two days of holiday fun from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Dec. 2 and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 3. Friday features food trucks, the tree lighting, holiday music and Santa and Mrs. Claus. Saturday features crafts, food, music and a holiday parade. Details at www.clermontfl.gov/events.

Lady Lake Christmas Parade

The 12th annual Lady Lake Christmas Parade marches along Old Dixie Highway 10 a.m. Dec. 3. The theme is Miracle on Old Dixie Highway and features floats, bands, fire trucks and Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Christmas on the Caligari

Experience the "esherick to Nakashima" exhibit with classical pianist Jeffrey Chodil in a special "Christmas on the Caligari" concert at the Modernism Museum, 145 E. Fourth Ave., Mount Dora. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., concert begins at 7 p.m. Dec. 3. Cost is $25 nonmembers, $20 members. Details at www.modernismmuseum.org/events.

Christmas of the Florida Frontier

Enjoy music, crafts, dancing, tree decorating, refreshments and vendors at the Christmas of the Florida Frontier from 3 to 8 p.m. Dec. 3 at Dad Battlefield Historic State Park, 7200 County Road 603 in Bushnell. Participants can make several holiday crafts using pine needles, cereal rye and pine cones. Cost is $5 per vehicle up to 8 or $2 per person.

Leesburg Christmas Parade

Bring the family to the Leesburg Christmas Parade, referred to as Christmas stories, 3 to 9 p.m. Dec. 3. The parade starts at 6 p.m. near 11th and Main streets heading towards Canal Street. Details at www.christmasparade.leesburgpartnership.com.

Mount Dora Christmas Walk and Parade

Mount Dora will host its 24th annual Christmas Walk from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 2 and its 56th annual Christmas Parade 10 a.m. Dec. 3 in downtown Mount Dora. Free.

Tavares Christmas Parade

The Tavares Christmas Around the World parade will be in downtown Tavares at 5 p.m. Dec. 3. Activities include a pre-parade Santa seaplane flyover, an “ice” skating rink, snow slide and Smore's by the Tavares Fire Department.
