CLERMONT — The Clermont Police Department will hold a multi-agency, vehicle safety checkpoint on Dec. 16.

The department said the goal of the checkpoint — from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on State Road 50 near Grand Highway — is to promote safe driving.

Officers will check that occupants are wearing seat belts, check the safety equipment on vehicles and arrest drivers who are driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

All vehicles entering the checkpoint will be stopped, and drivers will be required to present a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of current insurance for the vehicle.
