Good Vibrations Christmas Party

Bring your kids and your grandkids for this Christmas “beach” party featuring former longtime Beach Boys’ band members Bobby Figueroa, Sterling Smith, Ed Carter, Randell Kirsch and Christian Love (son of Beach Boys’ lead singer Mike Love) as the band California Surf Incorporated 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Clermont Performing Arts Center.

“We are all members of the Beach Boy band at one point,” said Figueroa who was in the Beach Boys from 1974 to 1989 on percussion and vocals. He said they are not a tribute band, but part of the Beach Boy history.

“We were all good enough to be Beach Boys, we toured and recorded with them and did all the biggest shows at all the major venues in the country. In our own way we're making the sound and music of the Beach Boys.”

The concert will feature Beach Boys surf and sand classics with a few holiday songs. Figueroa added that the audience is often dancing in the aisles at performances.

“The fact is the music never gets old. We see the smiles on all the generations and that keeps the music new for us.” Tickets are $46.95 to $58.02. Details at www.clermontperformingarts.com/

'The Man of La Mancha'

See it before it's gone — "The Man of La Mancha" is based on Miguel de Cervante's 17th century novel, Don Quixote, which takes place during the Spanish Inquisition. While in a dungeon awaiting trial, Cervantes entices his fellow prisoners to become the characters in an enactment of his prized possession — a manuscript. Together, they act out the imaginings of an elderly man, Alonso Quijana, who believes himself to be Don Quixote, a knight-errant. Against all odds, Quixote and his trusty squire, Sancho Panza, embark on the road to restore chivalry and to seek out the good and innocent in a world filled with darkness and despair. Through the enactment, the prisoners are given hope and a restored faith in humanity. Songs include the classic, “Quest,” also known as “The Impossible Dream.”

“It is very heartwarming and reminds people of their connection to everyone else, humanity and love of human kind, which is a good message for the holiday, said Darlin Barry, managing artistic director.

Shows through Sunday at the Sonnetag Theatre at the IceHouse, 1100 N. Unser St., Mount Dora. Cost is $10-$22. Details at www.icehousetheatre.com.
