An 18-year-old Clermont man has been charged with lewd and lascivious battery and stalking after he allegedly impregnated a 15-year-old girl, then refused to leave her alone after she broke off the relationship, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported.
According to an arrest affidavit, Qwandarious Burton, 13702 Green Isle Court, was in an “intimate dating relationship” with the girl for the past two years. In March, when he was 18 and the girl was 15, she became pregnant and ended the relationship.
For the past two months,
Burton repeatedly has sent
“harassing and threatening” messages to the girl, the affidavit states, despite being warned by a sheriff’s deputy to stop. This included one message
in which Burton allegedly said “he had friends who were members of the Bloods and they had guns.”
On April 28, the girl filed for a protective injunction.
The following day, Burton showed up at the girl’s school to ask if she was dating anyone, despite having previously
been issued a trespass warning there, the affidavit states. That same day, he
reportedly knocked on the girl’s bedroom window to try to speak with her just after midnight, only to be chased away by her grandfather.
On April 30, Burton sent the girl a message saying “he had arranged to have some of his friends beat up the victim at school,” the affidavit states. On May 3, he reportedly went to the girl’s house again, this time with friends to speak to the girl on his behalf, when deputies arrived and arrested him.
He remains jailed without bond.
