Entries sought for 'Pig on the Pond' events

Rib Run for Education 5K run/walk is slated

Pig on the Pond "For the Kids" is excited to host the Rib Run for Education, a 5K run/walk presented by First Green Bank, beginning at 8 a.m. on March 9 at the Waterfront Park in Clermont.

Proceeds benefit the Pig on the Pond education fund, which works to change the lives of deserving students providing scholarships to south Lake County students.

This event is for all ages, offering chip timing for the serious athlete and the weekend runner and walkers who can enjoy a great course on Lake Minneola while benefiting a worthy cause. Registration is due today, at www.pigonthepond.org or at www.Active.com.

Bake-off to benefit Busses and Backpacks

The 15th annual Pig on the Pond Dessert Bake-Off is scheduled for March 9, and sponsored by TD Bank. The Church at South Lake organizes the event to raise funds for the Busses and Backpacks program, which is a weekly effort to feed elementary, aged children

Entry fee is the donation of your dessert which will be sold by the Church at South Lake at Pig on the Pond.

All entry forms must be received by March 9. Desserts must be delivered to the Pig on the Pond event 9:30 a.m. on March 9.

This bake-off is for amateurs only and all entries must be homemade.

Great Chili Challenge scheduled for March 8

The 15th annual Pig on the Pond sanctioned barbecue event offers a challenge to locals who are encouraged to participate in the Great Chili Challenge on March 8 at Waterfront Park in Clermont.

Entry fee is $60 ($30 for non-profits).

Sponsored by Ford of Clermont with proceeds from the Great Chili Challenge benefiting The Church at South Lake.

Tasting times set for barbecue cook teams

On March 9 at Pig on the Pond the "For the Kids" event and the People's Choice will be held next to the Waterfront Pavilion in Clermont.

This is a unique opportunity to taste competition level barbecue cooked by the Florida Barbecue Association cook teams, beginning at 5 p.m., with four tasting times available.

Hot air balloon glow scheduled for March 8

Pig on the Pond "For the Kids" and SeaBreeze Aluminum Products will host the 2013 Hot Air Balloon Glow at 8 p.m. March 8 at the Pig on the Pond event.

Pilots from Friendship Aerosports Inc., will inflate their balloons (but not take off) at dusk and as the crowd watches, the glow from the balloons will create a surreal and beautiful site.
